Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Nurse Manager, RN to lead our 36-bed Neuroscience Unit in Maryland. This unit plays a vital role in a Joint Commission and Maryland Institute for Emergency Medical Services (MIEMSS) certified Primary Stroke Center.
The Nurse Manager is responsible for ensuring the delivery of safe, age-appropriate, high-quality patient care during all hours of operation. This leader serves as a role model, clinical resource, advisor, and operational leader for the interdisciplinary care team.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical & Operational Leadership
- Oversee daily operations of the 36-bed Neuroscience Unit
- Ensure safe, evidence-based care for neurological and stroke patients
- Maintain compliance with Joint Commission and stroke center standards
- Promote quality, patient safety, and regulatory adherence
Team Leadership & Development
- Supervise nursing staff and support personnel
- Serve as mentor, advisor, and role model to the patient care team
- Support professional development and clinical competency
- Foster a collaborative, patient-centered care environment
Quality & Performance Management
- Monitor unit performance metrics and patient outcomes
- Support stroke protocols and neuro/telemetry standards of care
- Lead performance improvement initiatives
- Ensure proper documentation and adherence to clinical guidelines
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maryland (or eligibility to obtain)
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master’s Degree preferred
- Minimum 3 years of Hospital Nurse Manager experience
- Minimum 3 years of Neuro/Telemetry experience
- At least 2 years of direct Neuro Nursing experience
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification within 90 days of hire
